Wellness and Sick Visits
Our Pediatricians receive special training in the health and illnesses of infants, children, teens, and young adults. We provide preventive health care for children in good health, medical care for children with chronic conditions such as ADHD or asthma, newborn care, developmental screenings, and much more. We also provide parents with support and advice for issues such as growth and development, safety and prevention, nutrition, and emotional wellness.

Well child visits are a vital part of your child’s health care, and we typically follow the schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
During a check-up, we evaluate growth, development, vision, speech and hearing. These visits also provide an opportunity to discuss child safety, nutrition, accident prevention and anticipated changes in behavior and development. During some visits your child will receive immunizations and screening tests of blood and urine.

We understand that children can become ill quickly and unexpectedly, which is why we reserve a portion of our daily schedule for sick visits. To schedule a sick visit, please call us early in the day. This will help us to see your child that same day if needed.
There are typically 5-7 doctors in each of our offices on weekdays. Every attempt will be made for you to see the doctor of your choice. Saturday office hours are shared by the physicians in the group on a rotating basis and held in our Gainesville office only.
Don’t hesitate to call our office whenever you feel uncomfortable or worried about your child’s health. In addition, the Symptom Checker at HealthyChildren.org can help you determine whether your child should see a doctor.

Sports physicals can be completed at time of checkup or at no additional charge for patients who have had a physical exam within the last year.
Are you expecting?
Having a baby is one of the most exciting times in your life. Nothing is more rewarding than the privilege of caring for this new life and providing an environment in which both you and your child will thrive and develop. We look forward to the opportunity to partner with you on the exciting journey of raising a child.

Please feel free to call our office if you have questions about our practice. We’d be happy to answer any questions or schedule a prenatal visit with one of our providers.

When adding a newborn to your insurance plan, please check with your Human Resources department or your insurance provider about the requirements of your health plan. Most plans require that newborns be added to the policy within 30 days of birth.
Adolescent Care
Adolescence is an important transition from childhood to adulthood, and we are here to support your family during this important transition. In our practice, we allow patients to schedule appointments through their college years.
We know that adolescence can be a challenging period. As a young adult moves toward independence, problems may develop between a child and his or her parents. If you have concerns about family relationships, please feel free to discuss them with us as well.
-
During the adolescent years, patients will be encouraged to have a portion of the visit alone with their provider. We try to pay special attention to the personal needs, confidentiality, and privacy of our adolescent patients. During their visits, we will privately discuss issues such as alcohol, smoking, substance use, and sexual activity if needed.
At age 18, patients are legally considered adults and need to give their written permission for us to speak with their parents about their health.

Our physicians manage ADHD and several mental health disorders in our office without need for referral to psychiatry. If ever a patient needs care for conditions related to mental health beyond our scope of practice, we will help to connect you to psychiatry or psychology as needed.
